Summertime Printable Art

This original abstract artwork, appropriated from a design by a 16th-Century Italian artist, can be printed at home or at your local print store and would be a welcome addition to any physical or online classroom. Display this in your classroom, or on your wall during remote video meetings with students.

Here are some possible discussion prompts and movement prompts to accompany this artwork.

Literacy connections

Print and laminate this image, and distribute to your students for a close-looking session. Discuss together as a whole group, charting what everyone sees and using descriptive language. Then, have children look more closely at the image and write about what they see, using your chart as a guide. You could even include some hands-on art by inviting them to draw what they see, as a tool to support closer observation!

Get them talking!

Pair students and invite them to discuss what they see. Children tend to enjoy discussing abstract artworks, and there are endless possibilities to what they might take from it!
